The semi-serious, speculative Q and A’s presented below, based on Proust’s questionnaire, were conducted to serve as insufficient bios for me, my family, and bestie – the main “characters” in my life adventures. As you probably can tell if you know my
family, lots of over talk had to be cut in the interview transcribing process (because
we are always talking or singing, well, maybe not ALWAYS, but definitely
about 98.9% of the time 😂 ). Have fun learning about us!

 

Lillian (Lilly) Charlotte Hill

What is your idea of perfect happiness? helping others.
What is your greatest fear? not being able to wake up from a nightmare, or even a good dream (if that’s even possible 😪)
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? laughing at serious things (I have like no respect 😄)
What is the trait you most deplore in others? hands down, meanness.
Which living person do you most admire? my dad, my mom, my brother, & Malala Yousafzai (well, that’s four actually! 👪)
What is your current state of mind? blissful.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? beauty, because nowadays beauty is skewed and misconstrued for obvious reasons, meaning too much importance is placed on having a “good” physical appearance, and hardly anyone is seen in their God-given natural state. (Thanks, Momma! 😉)
On what occasion do you lie? when I’m making a surprise for someone and don’t want that someone to know.
What do you most dislike about your appearance? my sharp elbows (lol!)
Which living person do you most despise? no one (and no one’s not a person)
What is the quality you most like in a [boy or girl]? the ability to belt out Disney songs!
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? awesome, chillax, no biggie
When and where were you happiest? in my bedroom, talking to God 🙏
Which talent would you most like to have? tap dance and rap…I think.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? my voice turning hoarse when I’m scared (it betrays my pretense of bravery!)
What do you consider your greatest achievement? so far, helping my dad help a pastor in China, which you can read all about in A China Escape
If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? probably a modern-day Mother Theresa
Where would you most like to live? where I do now, in California!
What is your most treasured possession? my paper Bible (everything else is so app-y now)
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? having no one who cares (seriously, imagine everyone saying this to you about everything)
What is your most marked characteristic? my eternal optimism
What do you most value in your friends? their genuine concern for others
Who is your hero of fiction? Neil Gaiman, for writing my favorite book, Coraline!
Which historical figure do you most identify with? I’d like to think either Mother Theresa or Gandhi
Who are your heroes in real life? my parents, for giving birth to me 💗
What are your favorite names? my brother’s-Marco Maximus Hill (you know a person named that is destined for MAXIMUm greatness!)
What is it that you most dislike? cupcakes without icing (it just feels like a mistake)
What is your greatest regret? I don’t regret anything…yet.
How would you like to die? having done all I could to help others

What is your favorite food? cheesy corn and almost anything with ice cream 🍨🍦
What is your favorite TV show? I don’t have one because I don’t watch much TV, except for when I watch Law & Order with my lawyer dad. then, that’s my favorite show
What is your favorite movie? either Beauty and the Beast or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (yep, it fluctuates)
What is your favorite season? summer
What is your favorite holiday? Thanksgiving
What are your favorite sports? gymnastics, ballet (yes, it’s beautiful, but it’s still a fierce sport), surfing 🏄
What do you reenact? the old Madea movies!
What do you want to be when you get older? me. just a wiser, stronger version of me, possibly with an Olympic gold medal in gymnastics around my neck 🏅

What is your idea of perfect happiness? heaven!
What is your greatest fear? having something to fear
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? I don’t deplore it, but my
intolerance for disorder. everything should be neat
What is the trait you most deplore in others? disloyalty and irascible-ness
Which living person do you most admire? my pen pal in South Africa. he is
changing the world one life at a time through his charity work and still finds
time to write me.
What is your greatest extravagance? what money can’t buy. guess, guess…
What is your current state of mind? intelligent
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? patience, because it’s not always good to wait.
On what occasion do you lie? if I ever say “I’ve never lied”, then I’ve lied
What do you most dislike about your appearance? well, I asked a girl. she
said “nothing. that question posed to you is like asking the sun the same
thing. the only answer it can give is that is shines SO brightly!” 🌅
Which living person do you most despise? I don’t despise anyone. I try to
understand everyone.
What is the quality you most like in a boy? good ol’ gumption
What is the quality you most like in a girl? naturalness, and the ability to tell me
her feelings straight!

What or who is the greatest love of your life? I have too many great loves for one to be the greatest 💑
When and where were you happiest? most recently, it was yesterday, in the school cafeteria, as I dined (and not yet wined) my girl 🍹🍕👸
Which talent would you most like to have? Michael Jackson’s dancing talent
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? my creative ideas coming at the most inopportune moments (for example: they come when I’m studying, instead of when I’m in the shower)
What do you consider your greatest achievement? existing…as myself! (doing so is a battle every day)
If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? either a black Albert Einstein, a black-er Muhammad Ali or my dog, Buddercup, because I treat her extremely well & can’t trust other people…
Where would you most like to live? in Nikola Tesla’s brain (when it was alive)…
What is your most treasured possession? all the love in my heart to give away
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? probably, unrequited love, & then reading a GREAT book synopsis only to find out the book is actually abominable
What is your favorite [hobby]? performing my own exercise moves behind the gym instructor’s back (they’re usually flamboyant 👊)

Who are your favorite writers? Shel Silverstein, Sue Townsend, Brian Jacques, C.S. Lewis, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Oscar Wilde, great biography writers (just to name a few…I’m a non-rookie bookie) 📚
Who is your hero of fiction? Lemony Snicket
Which historical figure do you most identify with? Napoleon or Alexander the Great and Paul McCartney
Who are your heroes in real life? my teachers (sometimes), my parents (all the time), my girlfriends (when they don’t break my heart or I don’t break theirs),  and (potentially) mountain climbers, because, well, there are mountains and they climb them… 🗻
What are your favorite names? Gidget Sophia (the name of my sixth and only love 💔)
What is it that you most dislike? doctors stabbing me for their wicked pleasure 😷
What is your greatest regret? Lilly would want me to say that I regret sending her mutilated dolls anonymously for her 11th birthday when I was 7 , so that it is. 😈

Who are your heroes in real life? strong women who’ve gone before me, my children – Lilly & Marco (they are some of the most kind and amazing people I know. this makes me proud to be their parent every day)
What are your favorite names? the names of my two children – Lilly & Marco
What is it that you most dislike? dirty, unkempt nails!
What is your greatest regret? fortunately, I don’t have any…except, maybe not marrying Marc earlier (love ya, babe)
How would you like to die? knowing I have truly lived

What is your idea of perfect happiness? leading the toddlers at my church in singing Jesus Loves Me & laughing till my sides hurt with Lilly 😆😆

On what occasion do you lie? when I really want something and I say to my parents, “without this, I’m like going to die!” and of course, they roll their eyes at me and deny it. I happen to still be living today (LOL! 😜)
What do you most dislike about your appearance? nothing. who can say “I don’t like this about perfect”!
Which living person do you most despise? in a non serious way, the creators of the for dummies book series because they are making so much money off our ignorance (LOL!)
What is the quality you most like in a boy? well, I don’t know about quality, but as a trait, it’d be dimples! 👦
What is the quality you most like in a girl? confidence! confidence! confidence! 👧
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? LOL. and like. like, I’ll say, “mom, it’s been like raining outside for like this whole week, so I need like another pair of boots that are like pink-ish…” 💬
What or who is the greatest love of your life? Jesus is, for giving me new life! 🙏
When and where were you happiest? I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t happiest every single day…oh! except for when Lyle, my third oldest brother, sat on our pet lizard and crushed it. then, I was extremely sad.
Which talent would you most like to have? speed reading PUH-leeze
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? when I get old…any wrinkles (LOL!)
What do you consider your greatest achievement? rescuing my second oldest brother, Ruby, from an almost fatal shark attack when I was ten and winning a Bible memory contest when I was twelve!

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? bullying, being bullied, and watching people get bullied and not being able to defend them
